Stash-Views: Through Our Eyes
First of all, Jim and my combined name is "Stash" (think the former "Brangelina" or "Bennifer"!)
Thus: Starr + Hash = Stash
These pages detail our experiences. But of course, thousands that week were impacted. We were, in fact, among the last hit by the "Labor Day" fires. On this page and its links, we'll tell you the story from our vantage point.

[still in progress]
Naivety #1: We heard about the wildfire that was burning in Panther Creek, a neighborhood in the eastern part of Otis (we are at the far western side of Otis; most people don't think Highland Estates is in Otis as all. Indeed, the bottom of our neighborhood is either Lincoln City or Neotsu!) Though the fire was several miles from us, we contacted an acquaintance who not only had horses himself, but was also a volunteer fireman, and asked him if he thought we should evacuate our horses. He said no, there was no chance of the fire getting to us, we'd be fine.
Naivety #2: My daughter Jolene had passed away in February 2019, and I'd inherited many of her possessions, including 130 of her very special garments. They were so nice, I couldn't donate them to Goodwill (but they were too small for me). I decided that donating them to the survivors of the wildfire would be the perfect way to pass them on!
Naivety #3: We'd had no power for some time. No internet, not even cellular service (or sketchy), nor the land line was working, so no phone calls. The only way we could hear what was going on was through a transistor radio, but all the AM station played was music! We went to bed that night frustrated and concerned for our friends and their community, but secure that we were safe. HA!
