The Miracle Horses

It was one of the most heart-wrenching things I've ever done, abandoning our three horses while their home was threatened by a wildfire.
This page is barely a snippet of our experience with them during our evacuation period and recovery. I'll add more to it over time, but just know for now that it was very difficult (I know I keep saying that, but all phases and aspect of our journey were an ordeal). From the angst of leaving the horses, to finding a place for them, the daily struggle of caring for them remotely while living in a motel and dealing with all the aspects of surviving the wildfire, then moving them because we were no longer welcomed, and later finding out that they were neglected by the people we had trusted, to rebuilding a home for them as soon as we could, then having them home in barely adequate facilities (and no shelter), then getting a barn built with only two sides! Oh my gosh, it's been a lot, requiring perseverance and dedication to these "worthless" yet treasured animals.

A word about the horses. Prompted by an insensitive remark, it was on my heart to say something, so I made a video, now available on YouTube.
