Stashview: Overhead Imaging
Maps & Aerial Photos

Maps of the fire's progression were the only information we had that our home was in greater jeopardy.

From our refuge at my mother's apartment in Newport, I watched updates anxiously while maintaining hope that we'd be spared. More narrative provided below the gallery of images.

Aerial images from Google maps, Lincoln County Tax Assessor, and drone photos.

Looking at the county's evacuation maps, it's easier to see why we believed we weren't within the reach of the fire. But after we evacuated, it became more apparent that my hopes that we were spared were unfounded (Jim must have already known the truth, but he held back --- after all, he held hope, too). I kept watching the updates through my phone, almost hourly.

Afterwards, a kind drone photographer offered his services, so we could have a bird's-eye (or higher!) view of the destruction of our property.

Later, we watched and waited --- for months --- for the promised FEMA cleanup crews to arrive.
